Fresh baked “Fong Bao” from the oven – 方包出爐

Random musings & meditations straight from the oven. Hopefully some food for thought as well…

The Longest Day

(* = Lingo alert)

Even though I’m two generations removed, I’ve been told about “The War” when I was young. My late grandma told me bits and pieces about how the family was able to flee the village in time, with the entire family intact. Other families, I was told, were not as fortunate. That’s why grandma has always taught me to appreciate life, to not be wasteful and be thankful of all that I possessed.

If there ever was a war that’s necessary, World War II may have been one. Today is the 65th anniversary of D-Day and I salute all who gave their lives on that pivotal day. Without their sacrifices, who knows what would have happened to the world, my grand parents and my parents. I certainly wouldn’t be here to “bake this loaf*” had the war been lost.

Item du jour

The Longest Day. One of my favourite movies of all time and it gives a pretty balance perspective on the events leading up and during the Normandy landing.
